INTERIOR DÉCOR E-COURSE UNITS 1 – 6

Course participants shall complete all skills and evidence as required in the Unit Assessment Instrument.

Following successful completion of units undertaken, including the final assessment, a “Certificate of Attainment” certified and signed by Judith Molyneux APM DIA and Workplace Trainer and Assessor BSZ40198 shall be returned to the successful student for inclusion in their final portfolio. Presentation portfolios may be submitted as evidential proof of skills and knowledge required for future employment.

Judith Molyneux, course administrator, shall be available for consultation via telephone at a pre-appointed time or emailed to assist the course participant on issues pertaining to any unit of study.

Description

Course Competencies Covered 

There are 6 key units that are covered in the course, as follows: 

  • Unit 1: Exploring the use of colour for interior spaces: This unit covers colour theories, and how to develop meaningful colour schemes that impact positively on people’s experience of the interior space. You’ll also learn how to adapt colours to influence mood.  
  • Unit 2: Windows and window treatments: This unit teaches how windows impact the spatial air quality, and how they contribute to visual outcomes, as well as how to achieve a sustainable, comfortable home with natural light and views 
  • Unit 3: Floors and floor treatments: This unit covers the ins and outs of flooring, along with how to achieve longevity and lasting beauty around different areas of the home 
  • Unit 4: Accessories: This unit uncovers the magic behind accessorising a home, and how accessories can be displayed using composition, light and focus theories to reflect personality in an indoor space 
  • Unit 5: Design for domestic space: This unit teaches the practical steps required to understand anthropometrics and ergonomics in order to support subcontractors and suppliers in a design project.
  • Unit 6: Advise clients on interior decor: The final unit teaches the skills required to create an interior decor proposal with materials, colours, soft furnishings and accessories for different spaces in the house. It is submitted as part of the final major assessment. 

Certification and Career Path 

Upon completion of the interior design e-course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment by Judith Molyneux DIA, from Perth, Australia. 

The course teaches basic skills and enriches existing skills. Whether you’re a school leaver, a building employee, or looking at starting a career path in interior design, the skills that are taught throughout the 6 units have practical, real-life applications taught by a successful design consultant. 

The certification can be used to enrich your professional CV, while the completed design portfolio can enhance your job applications by showcasing your refined design skills and experience.
